Witness the Magic of Sea Turtles Nesting Under the Stars!
Join the dedicated eco-guards of NGO Programa Tatô on an unforgettable night patrol along the beach! This unique experience allows you to witness the enchanting journey of sea turtles as they come ashore under the cover of darkness to lay their eggs in the sand.
As you walk alongside the ecoguards, you’ll learn about the incredible, yet often perilous journey sea turtles face to survive—from nesting to the ocean and back again. Discover the conservation efforts in place to protect these amazing creatures and meet the passionate individuals working tirelessly to secure their future.
This magical night adventure is both educational and inspiring, perfect for nature lovers of all ages!

The activity starts at about 8 pm at an Incubation Center in the Northern area and ends at about 11:30 pm to ensure that you are back to your hotel around midnight.
Itineraries
MEET WITH YOUR GUIDE
Meet with with your guide at the Incubation Center in the northern area (about 20 mn drive from the Capital).
You may also meet him in the Capital and give him a ride.
All arrangements to be made prior to start of activity.

Learn about the seaturtles life cycles and discover the work of the ecoguard at the incubation center

GO TO THE BEACH
Walking on the beach at night is quite an experience.. You will meet the local ecoguard and will discover about their work.
SEATURTLE APPROACHING !?
Make sure you don´t stand in the way of the turtle... Always wait aside with your gudie and wait for the instructions of the ecoguard.
LAYING EGGS
You may approach gently and silently while the seaturtles enters the second half of the nestling...
COLLECTING DATA
The Ecoguard not only monitors the seaturtles activities, but also collects precious scientific data to help imprive the understanding of their life habits..
BACK IN THE OCEAN
COLLECTING THE EGGS
The Ecoguard will gently collect the eggs and transfer them to the nearest incubation center...
END OF ACTIVITY
It´s time to thank and say good bye to the ecoguards and to your guide.
This activity includes:

- Night Patrol on the northern beachs
This activity does not include:
- Transportation to the location of activity in the Northern area
- In one of the three incubation centers: Morro Peixe, Micolo or Fernão Dias

- Mosquito repellent is recommended
- Red LED light (or smartphone red light app)

- Comfortable shoes to walk on the beach
