A 2-Day Trek Through Abandoned Plantations and Unspoiled Beaches

Prepare for an unforgettable adventure as you embark on a two-day trek that immerses you in the untamed wilderness of São Tomé's West Coast. This journey is a breathtaking exploration of abandoned plantations, pristine beaches, and the enduring beauty of nature.

Setting Off: Roça São Miguel

Your odyssey begins with a boat ride to the historic Roça São Miguel, marking the starting point for an expedition deep into the heart of the island. As you traverse dense tropical forests, you'll encounter a symphony of natural wonders, with each step revealing the untouched splendor of São Tomé.

Off the Beaten Path

The path ahead is not for the faint-hearted; there are no roads here, only winding trails that navigate through rugged landscapes. Along the way, remote hamlets inhabited by palm wine collectors offer glimpses into ancient traditions amidst the wild expanse.

Crossing Rivers and Seasons

Your journey unfolds against the backdrop of São Tomé's unspoiled beauty. Crossing two rivers becomes a pivotal challenge, where a trusty bamboo raft ensures safe passage during the rainy season. Opting for the two-day trek leads you to the serene campsite at Roça Santo Antonio Mussacavu, a place to rest and rejuvenate.

Final Leg: Praia Jalé

The final stretch towards Praia Jalé is a serene stroll through palm tree plantations, providing a tranquil contrast to the rugged terrain traversed earlier.

Ôbo National Park: Nature's Domain

Most of your trek unfolds within the Ôbo National Park, where nature reigns supreme. Human activity is scarce, and you'll tread paths reclaimed by the natural world.

Captivated by Untouched Splendor

Prepare to be captivated by the rugged charm and unspoiled allure of São Tomé's West Coast. This journey blends adventure with serenity, offering a unique opportunity to reconnect with the Earth's untouched splendor. As you walk paths reclaimed by nature, you'll witness the resilience of the natural world and the importance of preserving its pristine beauty.
