Take a boat tour with experienced fishermen and learn how traditional methods are used to hunt the famous sailfish and other local marine species found around São Tomé. This activity focuses on ancestral knowledge rather than modern sport fishing.

Authentic Fishing Experience Without Rods

Fishermen use specialized local equipment and techniques adapted to sea conditions. Although there are no fishing rods involved, the action, coordination, and anticipation make this fishing game both engaging and rewarding.

Departure Time and Meeting Point

The trip departs around 6:15 AM from any beach near the capital, depending on sea and weather conditions. Early departure offers the best chances for successful fishing.

Half-Day at Sea

You will spend half a day in the open sea, enjoying the calm ocean environment. While waiting for a bite, you can relax onboard and enjoy a cold beer, making the experience both active and pleasant.

Target Fish Species

This fishing activity mainly targets:

• Sailfish (Andala)

• Small tuna species (Bonite)

• Other local fish species

These catches highlight the marine biodiversity surrounding São Tomé.

Exchange Skills with Local Fishermen

Guests may bring their own fishing equipment and exchange techniques with local fishermen, creating a more immersive and interactive experience.

This activity is not suitable for young children, due to early departure times and several hours spent in the open sea.
